AEP Ohio (The Home Energy Savings Tour)
Goal/Objective:
To deliver a memorable, informational, and instructive message through event marketing to Ohio consumers about energy efficiency strategies and technologies that will help AEP Ohio customers save money, energy, and the environment. A secondary goal has been to introduce the new gridSMART technology being piloted in some central Ohio communities.
Strategies:
- On behalf of AEP Ohio, EMS worked with an experienced exhibit designer and various vendors to develop The Home Energy Savings Tour, a flexible, interactive exhibit space which targets the 1.5 million AEP Ohio customers.
- A colorful tent exhibit designed to look like a modern family home features a maze of 50 fully refurbished and repainted bright blue, yellow, lime and pink refrigerators, as well as Smart Appliances, CFL and LED lightbulb displays, gridSMART displays, colorful graphics, and energy saving tips.
- Utilizing each refrigerator as a personal educational module, flat screen panels and computer mediated experiences were built into some refrigerators in order to provide engaging educational exhibits.
- Brand ambassadors answer questions and register consumers for energy saving and appliance recycling programs offered by AEP Ohio.
Results:
- Utilizing a completely flexible physical set-up, The Home Energy Savings Tour has had a presence at more than 42 indoor and outdoor events throughout Ohio where we have engaged more than 77,000 people. The tour is planned to continue throughout 2012 and beyond.
